Moldavite is a translucent olive green vitreous substance formed by a meteorite colliding with the Earth around 15 million years ago. Technically, it is a type of tektite, or impactite, fusing extraterrestial material with the ground, and as such are highly prized in metaphysical circles for their combination of terrestial and cosmic elements. The word tektite comes from the Greek word tektos, meaning molten. This green variety of tektite is only found in Bohemia, Southern Czechoslovakia. Apparently, these stones have been prized by early humans as far back Paleolithic times and have used sharp-edged Moldavite as tools and also worn pieces as amulets. It has also been suggested that The Holy Grail was made from this stone. The most important property of Moldavite is its catalyzing effect on ones spiritual evolution.
"Moldavites are among the most powerful gemstone tools for spiritual development and expansion of consciousness. They seem to engender an acceleration of one's inner growth and evolution." The Book of Stones. Robert Simmons
